Went to see Alice after work.  Feel much better.  On the way back bought a long semolina bread.  Ate it as a dinner.  Planning to play more of Evil Genius.

Memorial Day: neighbors were partying

Played Evil Genius all day.  Still sneezing, coughing, eye allergies.  Ate cheap packaged yellow rice, bagels with tofu slices and lots of caffeinated beverages.  Tomorrow is work.  Maybe I am allergic to myself?  It's possible, lately I started losing self-respect...for no reason...but then again, I had it for no reason as well.
It's after 4am...I was playing Evil Genius for many hours, got on another island...Maybe I just don't feel like going to bed...The dreams...are always...either sadistically unpleasant or just don't make any sense, like watching someone's life running in reruns, pointless, naive, hard...  but I guess body needs rest, for the brain...

Visited grandmother who gave me a late birthday present (card+$300).  She wanted also to give me money for water I keep bringing, but I explained to her that she already gave me too much.  All of the proceeding will go towards my root canal+cap expenditure.  The condition of eye was so bad today I took three anti-allergy pills and still needed to clean it with tea/drops.  However, today it is different looking, not the usual "heart-attack" shape.  I guess things are working out.  I was playing Evil Genius in hard mode yesterday, when I noticed that I am not enjoying the game as much as before, so today I started a new game on a normal/regular setting.  I am enjoying it much more...that's what the games are for, for relaxation of mind and waste of time, not some achievements, even though some see computer games more than a hobby.

Three day weekend started.

It was not so busy day today, but there was stuff to do, mostly in the first half of day.  I ordered from Kawaii: vegetable udon noodle soup and age tofu without fish flakes.  Also had bagels, coffee, mustard peas.  Yesterday played Metro2033.  As I was going to bed, so that Evil Genius is on 24 hour sale, for just 5 bucks.  Even though I played the game years ago, I did not find the disk for it, so I thought it would be great to have it on Steam, which is lately working great after I managed to figure out how to adjust it to my graphics card.
After work I ate a mango fruit: it was hot and the Fair Grocery ran out of mango juice: great thing I had a mango fruit ready.  Drinking Manhattan Special Espresso Coffee Soda, smoking Caster 5.  Most likely will replay old game Evil Genius...

Tooth Decision Day

There was stuff to do at work...at lunch I had no appetite, probably because I couldn't sleep before due to tooth ache.  After work I visited a dental office to see if they accept my insurance, will follow up tomorrow.  Then I went to King's Buffet and had three plates of little-bit-of-everything vegetarian-vegan.  Again, I missed tofu.  I think I may play some more Metro2033 and/or Tropico3...

it was a hot day

Had plenty of stuff to do at work today.  Still don't feel absolutely healthy, sneeze, cough, etc.  Just when I thought I ran out of cigarettes, found two cartons of Caster5 in the kitchen!  Played hardcore mode of Metro2033.  Unlocked three achievements I missed the last time I played.  Found out that Monday will be off due to a holiday, also great.  Getting eye allergies in the other eye now...  Not so great, but predictable, at least. After work I wasn't that hungry, ate only during late evening, just tofu and package of sticks added to each Chinese food soup.  Computer is working fine.  Checked out a possibility of cruise to New England from NY: guess it's too expensive, even though I could definitely afford it only two years ago at the same price...Funny, the salary wasn't decreased, same purchases, eating out less...guess it's recession.

another philosopha!

I think I finally figured out how to make the graphics card control the games on Steam.  Now it should play better.  I replayed an hour of Jimmy's Vendetta (MafiaII), then decided to play a level of Tropico, then restarted Metro2033 on hard ranger mode.  Got all the way to Cursed station with Khan when I noticed it's after 2am and I have to go take a shower and go to bed to be able to go to work tomorrow.

Thought of the day: By natural conception (by birth) human nature (all races, ethnicities) is rooted in nationalization.  Therefore, nationalism is a human nature.  From conception, depending on upbringing and environment, it turns either into patriotism, extremism, chauvinism, or into pride of being a...whatever (member of a team, employee of company, gang star, white/black/green/purple/yellow pride, gay/lesbian pride, family pride, etc).  Either way, it has to be some sort of division (rich vs. poor, geeks vs. jocks, girls vs. boys, republican vs. democrat, so on).  If divisions would not be the primary factor in us, we would not procreate as species.  Parthenogenesis, division of cells. Then two statements from religions come in: 1) Be fruitful and multiply (procreate), and 2)  Those who have wisdom count the number of the beast because it is a human number (implies human nature, something that makes it evil and present across all types of living organisms).  Therefore, scientific statement that life is bacterial is true.  It's something to think about.  It's too late, I'll think about it later.

Sick Day

I am still sneezing, coughing, wheezing...but less so, mostly due to Shiquan Dabu Wan and Gu Ben Zhi Ke Gao.  My oven is on all day, to make sure I will be able to go to work tomorrow, since today I called in sick.  Even though I have plenty of paid sick days, in this recession it is better to work than be sick.  Finished updating computer.  Now I have to reinstall Steam...
So far ate an instant Korean soup adding Miso soup base to it, had a large cup of tea with oatmeal bars.  I think I need to drink more tea today, to cleanse my system...

computer overcame apocalypse

Still wheezing, coughing, nose is dripping...went to acupuncturist, felt better for a while.  One of computer's drive went down, I tried to fix it and accidentally screwed up the BIOS... something with boot order... so the whole computer with four drives was inaccessible.  I took computer to the Compustar...also decided to get 2T drive..extra 100 bucks.  Now I have 5 drives.  I surprised the computer dude: he could not understand why someone would put windows on all drives.  I like choices... every drive for different type of activity.
Visited parents, got a present (Bulgarian shoes). Ate lots of fried tofu and bean curd, had Jewish matzo balls (made at my request) at parents' apartment.  did not feel well, went home and worked with computer.  Tomorrow I will stay home all day, not going to visit grandmother, take some Rx, stay indoors in warmth, finish installing programs to new drive.  Installed and played Scorpion Disfigured... Some stuff looks like Mass Effect 2 mixed with Bioshock, possibly even prequel:  must have been a great game when it came out...but now does not seem interesting.  By the way, this is the first time I saw the title: wasn't advertised, even this copy comes from UK.  My laundry order number is 269, I have to pick it up tomorrow.  Got email from Sylvia.  Apocalyptic global earthquake was cancelled, as I suspected, but my fridge (who knows, right?) is filled with mango juice.  By the way, the virus from my right side is kaput...it's just a cold now...with lots of sneezing and aching...  I should be ok by Monday.

VIRUS from right side

Today I finally saw the footage of that mysterious Hindu dude that does not eat, shit, pee or drink.  Does not look like it, to be honest.  Could be something we don't know about.  The day at work was dull, uneventful, and I had just few objectives.  Worked mostly with volunteers.  Finished CBG project, finally.  I feel very beat today: I got sore throat in the morning, sinuses, feels like I got a VIRUS in my system.  Tried to shake it off all day, so far not completely successful.  Using Tiger Balm and other Chinese ointments, as well as Vick's Vapor Rub.  It looks like I'm gonna have to meet "apocalypses" tomorrow laying in my bed all day, getting better.

миллион, миллион алых роз...

It's 2:08am.  I slept more than few hours after coming home from work...sort of passed out...no dreams...good.  Woke up refreshed, but doubtfully will be able to sleep until work time.  Tried to back up drives to a flash drive, but it didn't work.  I don't know why...  Now the flash drive is not formatting.  At all.  That was a nice flash drive, with 250GB free...It's nice to have humidifier.  Especially if you have sinus.  And smoke.  Well, I guess it's a Fallout night...

prediction of ConEdison troubles.... bugles the mind

Most of the day did translations, checking for correctness.  Another "blast-from-the-past" case.  Many local newspapers typed articles forewarning about the end of the world day.  We expect a huge earthquake, and according to some accounts 2% of population will be saved, while 98% will go to hell.  The day is set two days from now, on May 21, 2011.  I gotta buy an extra bottle of mango juice, I guess.  Just in case.  But that would be very sad:  I still did not play Max Payne 3!  Maybe it will come out with Steam connection being OPTIONAL.  And what about Bioshock Infinity???  They are not planning to release it until next year...

birthday

It is raining now, but all day it was drizzling on and off, no heavy rain.  It was relatively busy at work, not overly so.  After work I went to Pho Hoai, bought Vietnamese soup Pho Chay and then went across the street to Tokyo to get various vegetarian sushi.  I tinkered with one of my drives settings and instead of improvements one of the four drives is not connecting to monitor.  I was trying to restore the drive most of the evening without reinstalling XP Pro Windows, but it looks like my computer knowledge is not sufficient to do so. I will need eventually reinstall the Windows to use the drive...It wasn't my primary anyway, no rush.
Tomorrow is an early meeting, but it's 2:20am and I am still not sleepy.  Maybe because I took an hour nap after a full dinner.  Having a full dinner is also an accomplishment.  I didn't know it would feel that way by this age...
All is well that ends...well...

day before the day of birth on Earth

It was raining since early morning.  Rain + Monday should have meant the slowest day, instead, I did not even have a regular lunch...kind of was running all day and there is still stuff to do tomorrow...  At my short break I had couscous and watermelon with coffee.  Right now I am baking three huge potatoes...and I already had a small bun with soy cheese.
Fallout New Vegas amazes after the newly downloaded NVIDIA driver, very few crashes...continue playing it.

peace on earth...and shit on it too

Visited grandmother, ate cauliflower and vinigret (beet salad), had a cup of tea.  Yesterday I downloaded an updated driver for NVIDIA graphics engine and Fallout New Vegas was playing without any crashes for 4 hours! I think it could have played even longer, but it was 4am and I decided that I was tired of playing.  This weekend was remarkable because I had two straight nights of good sleep.  I think it had something to do with the timing...early morning to midday...I don't know...can't do it during the working week anyway...  Tomorrow is WORK.  WORK MAKES ME FREE.  TO EACH ITS OWN.  I am a good student, I am....

overate tofu

Went to King's Buffet two days in a row: great food, very low prices, clean cooking.
Bought a papaya per advice from Alice: it should cut my belly fat.  Tastes like medicine!    Played mostly Tropico3 and Fallout, some Farmerama.
Ordered "new" games: Rise of Nations with expansion and Scorpion Disfigured.  Already played Rise of Nations long ago, when it just came out, it was good: nothing to play lately.  Checked out new trailers from Brink: same story as with Bulletproof.  Good artwork though.  New game on horizon: Dead Island.  One of the fortune cookies I received at King's Buffet reads: Happiness is not pleasure, it's victory.

feels like I need another vacation already...

Relatively not very busy day at work.  Ate potatoes, roasted, with lots of broccoli.  Also had lots of coffee, bagel with margarine, bought maki rice cakes for home.  On the way back, stopped by Ciccio's Pizza and bought a mini-pie with eggplants, onions, garlic, spinach and broccoli.  It's nice that you can have any pizza of your wish within 10 minutes.  Mine was without any cheese.  Bought Manhattan Special Espresso Drink, which I like a lot, but don't buy that often anymore since I got the espresso machine.  Also, purchased large gallon of diet blueberry green Arizona tea.  Left eye is melting today... got homeopathic drops for pink eye, it should help.  Ordered another pair of sunglasses, under 10 bucks - helps eyes when I'm driving...if things going to go the same way, I will need to wear them all the time to cover the dripping eye.
Fallout 4 was kicking me out shortly after beginning, so I played Tropico 3.   Still stuck on the most problematic mission to keep everyone's happiness above 65%.  Maybe I'll get lucky tonight?

Meme

It wasn't a very busy day, but there was a little something to do here and there.  I had spinach ravioli with tomato sauce, watermelon pieces and yellow rice with steamed vegetables for lunch, now I am preparing elbow pasta.  The weather was very sunny.
Hopefully, Fallout New Vegas will not kick me out that often today, or I will finish this evening playing the toughest campaign in Tropico 3: to make people of the island happy, at least 65% happy.  I don't remember how I did it last time...there is just not enough time to make it so without drastic measures.

anniversary of immigration: mother's day

Had fried cauliflower and hot tea with bread/salt combo at grandmother's apartment.  Played Fallout New Vegas, it crashed only twice.  Took a long nap from 7 to 9:30pm, now I doubt I'll be able to sleep all night.  Nothing new, everything is the same.  I continue living.

day out w/parents

Went to Monmouth mall, got myself a new jacket.  Bought three new belts on flee market, with two rows of halls, without metallic circles, with two tongues: I like those.  I used to find more of these with three of everything, but not lately.  Ate at a fancy restaurant, mother's treat due to holiday: food was so-so at best, but it cost more than my jacket.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Looking forward to spending a quiet evening playing Fallout New Vegas: I twitched the NVidia related visual controls and now the game cuts off only once in hour, sometimes hour and a half!  If things would go that well, I may even download a DCL to it.

Friday, May 6, 2011

It was not an overly busy day and volunteers helped a lot today.  For lunch I had rice, orange juice, lots of watermelon and pineapple pieces, later coffee.  After coming home, I decided to go to King's Buffet but found myself surprisingly not very hungry.  I ate a can of chick peas, microwaved a cinnamon raisin bagel with four pieces of soy cheese, had a Turbo espresso.  Tomorrow I will go to NJ w/parents: shopping.

Cinnotofia

I just had a new dish:  Tofu (extra firm), place in corn oil, fry for 3 minutes on high heat, then place on top of it: vegeta, garlic salt, dry mushroom spices.  Then, heat for 7 minutes more under the cover, turn on the other side, place a pinch of cinnamon on each "instance" of tofu pieces.  Place cover on top, heat for 10-12 minutes on high flame.  There, it's ready and it's delicious.

On my tombstone, there will be a sign "I am Excellent, how are you?"

I just fried bean curd (prefried) and eating two packages.  Bought stuff at Chinese supermarket, including tofu, bean curd, mango juice, aloe vera juice, can of green peas and can of corn. Wise garlic and onion potato chips, that's probably it.  It was not a busy day at work, most likely because the clients are quieter during the rain, and today we had rain all day long - it's still drizzling.  At lunch I had double portion of couscous, it was great.  Alice said I should eat papaya - it will make my stomach smaller.  I tried it today and did not really like the taste.  I'll think about it later.
I am scared to play Fallout New Vegas, it may cause problems with my videocard...I guess it will be a Tropico 3 evening.  Nothing out there to order, although Bulletstorm is already 20 bucks off, at 40 bucks.  Kind of fast drop, if you ask me...Maybe there is not more to game than that demo.

one day before the Day of the Dead

Another sleepless night, however, this time I slept hours after coming home from work.  Nothing unusual, milestone reached at another point.  I just ate a can of chick peas, it's 4:25am.
I wanted to write something smart or important here now, but nothing comes to mind.

two days before the Day of the Dead

Well, I played Fallout New Vegas and it gives me old troubles.  Then I played Tropico 3, several missions in a row.  At work I ordered Japanese, and for dinner I had Italian large shells with pesto sauce, margarine and soy cheese flakes, Parmesan flavor.  I am still hungry all the time.  I don't think I will ever feel different until I die.  People's get anxious, overeat, overdrink... nothing new.  Eh, big deal.  Like I care.  Meah!

May 1st, The holiday of working people.

Woke up to play Fallout: overnight forgot to turn off the comp and now the game is not playing, same issues as before.  Had to turn on two anti-spyware programs, found a trojan, etc.  But the game is still not playing well.
Visited grandmother, had fried cauliflower, mother bought three veggie burgers, ate two.  Had tea.  Went to Met Supermarket, got lots of cans of chick peas on sale, cinnamon raisin bagels, Lipton ice tea (huge), soy cheese.  Today all hits on site are referred by some young people's porn site - that was upsetting: why is my site seems to have anything to do with porn?  Not yet, thank God.  Will continue to try to play Fallout, if it fails again and again, I will play Tropico 3: it seems that previous saves were deleted and there are plenty "new" missions.
